📄️ Change Rate
Your change rate is based on changes in your trend weight over the past 20 days, expressed as a weekly figure. We use this figure to estimate the size of the caloric deficit or surplus you've been in. When we combine that information with data regarding your energy intake over the same time span, we can estimate your daily energy expenditure, thereby allowing us to update your weekly calorie targets to keep you on track with your goals.
📄️ Consistency
We keep track of the number of consecutive days you log your weight and/or dietary intake. If you track consistently (and accurately, of course), we'll be able to do a better job of estimating your average energy expenditure, and generating appropriate calorie and macro recommendations for you. We put this streak counter in the app for a bit of motivation. Once you get a good streak going, you'll be more likely to keep logging consistently, so you don't lose your streak.
📄️ Energy Insight
Your energy insight is based on changes in your trend weight over the past 20 days. We estimate the total caloric content associated with the amount of weight you've gained or lost, and use that information to calculate the approximate average size of the daily caloric surplus or deficit you've been in. When combined with data regarding your energy intake over the same time span, we can use this information to calculate your daily energy expenditure, and therefore update your calorie and macro targets to keep you on track with your goals.
📄️ Expenditure
Your estimated energy expenditure is a deterministic calculation based on your calorie intake and change in trend weight.
📄️ Future Weight
Your future weight prediction is simply a linear extrapolation of your recent rate of trend weight change. In other words, we look at the rate you've gained or lost weight over the past 20 days, and tell you how much you'd weigh a month from now if current trends continued. Obviously, this figure is subject to change if the size of your caloric deficit or surplus increases or decreases over the next month. However, we find that being able to "look ahead" to see the future results of sticking with a program (or continuing to deviate from a program) can help people stay motivated.
